I want to be more visible online. I also don't want strangers judging me, misunderstanding me, or saying crap about me.
I am slowly accepting that I probably cannot keep both comforts.
The more I put myself out there, the more opportunities people have to form an opinion about me. That is the part I keep forgetting.
I can choose to be visible. I cannot control what every person does with that visibility.
Once something is out there, it belongs to whoever reads it. Some people will read it kindly. Some will read it in the worst possible way.
Both are out of my hands.
I notice the same trade-off when I think about peace. If I want peace, I have to let go of the willingness to be right in every argument.
I try not to win when the argument does not really matter to me. That sounds easy on paper. In the moment it feels like swallowing something.
But understanding where someone is coming from often gives me more than proving them wrong.
Visibility costs some privacy. Peace costs some ego.
I think every meaningful choice closes another door. Not a dramatic door, usually just a quiet one I only notice later, when I want the thing I already traded away.
So I have stopped looking for the option that costs nothing. I am trying to pick the cost I can actually live with instead.
Before asking what more I need to do, I am trying to ask a less comfortable question:
What do I need to become okay with losing first?
